ABOUT THE RACE COURSE

The Skyway 10K is a point-to-point course from Manatee County to Pinellas County running northbound over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. While participants will complete the race on the bridge, a second finish line is located at Tropicana Field where racers can greet friends and family, receive their medals, and enjoy the Post-Race Expo!

Please note: The northbound span of the bridge will close at 3:30AM EST on Sunday morning and will reopen at 11AM EST sharp. The southbound lanes will remain open throughout the entire race.

Saturday Race Expo

All registered participants who did not purchase packet mailing are required to pick up their race packets at Tropicana Field Parking Lot 1 from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday of race weekend, during the Race Expo. This is the ONLY day that packets can be picked up.

Friends and Family Pick-up Form

We understand there could be many situations preventing a participant from picking up their own registration packet. Any participant unable to collect their own packet may authorize another individual to do so on their behalf with the completed Friends and Family Packet Pick-Up Form.

Packets will not be released to anyone other than the race participant without a signed Friends and Family Pick-Up Form.
It is the sole responsibility of the participant to ensure that the Participant Waiver is filled out correctly and to provide a clear photocopy of their photo I.D. and bib number.
There will be NO exceptions, including releasing packets to friends, family members, or spouses.

Cup-less Racing

The Skyway 10K is proud to be completely cup-less to help keep Tampa Bay beautiful and ensure all participants and volunteers are safe. There will not be any paper water cups available between the start and the finish line.

Participants WILL have access to water in the start area and in self-serve refill stations throughout the course. These stations also operate as drinking fountains.

Participants are allowed to bring water bottles (see below). Participants are responsible for carrying their own bottles from start to finish, as there will be no trash cans on the bridge.

Parking

Tropicana Field is providing parking for Skyway 10K Race Weekend completely free of cost! Parking is available for race participants, spectators, and Expo visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of limited parking and traffic, carpooling or ride-sharing to Tropicana Field is recommended.

Due to the volume of attendees, participants may need to park around Tropicana Field on surrounding streets, so please consider potential street parking costs.

Allow plenty of time to walk to Tropicana Field so as not to miss bus departure waves. Buses will depart from Tropicana Field and shuttle racers to the starting line in Manatee County.

All participants are responsible for making sure they arrive on time, with sufficient time to board their bus. This includes accounting for any traffic, parking time, and walking time. Please plan accordingly!

Safety and Security

In collaboration with the Armed Forces Families Foundation, Florida Highway Patrol, the City of St. Petersburg, and Florida Fish and Wildlife, Skyway 10K will be providing safety and security throughout the entirety of the weekend. This includes Expo security, bag check, and immediate response ready at any point during the race.

Bag Check

Skyway 10K will have a complimentary bag check at Tropicana Field, where one bag per person can be checked in the morning of the race. There will be NO bags allowed on the course. Participants will not be allowed on their bus if they have a bag, and should consider the time it takes to park, check a bag, and get on the bus on time.

Please be aware that every bag is subject to inspection before it’s checked. It is advised to leave belongings at home or in your car if possible. PLEASE NOTE: The Skyway 10K and Tropicana Field are not responsible for stolen property from your vehicle.

RACE FAQ

1WHERE CAN SPECTATORS OBSERVE THE RACE?

Spectators are not allowed on the bridge due to strict security measures. Spectators can enjoy the Expo and Post-Race Party at Tropicana Field, Parking Lot 1. Learn more here.

2WHAT IS BEING PROVIDED ON RACE DAY?

On Race Day, participants will be provided food and beverages as well as a post-race party including live music upon their return to the Tropicana.

3I'M UNABLE TO RUN, CAN SOMEONE ELSE WEAR MY NUMBER?

No. However, for an applicable fee, participants may transfer bibs until February 17, 2024.

4WHAT TIME ARE EACH OF THE BUS WAVES?

Bus Wave Times are noted below. Please arrive at least one hour prior to your designated bus wave time for bus loading at Tropicana Field. Bus Wave A (1): 5:30AM EST Bus Wave B (2): 6:10AM EST Bus Wave C (3): 6:50AM EST Bus Wave D (4): 7:30AM EST

5WHAT IF I ORDERED THE WRONG SIZE SHIRT?

Participants may change their shirt size on their registration until November 17th, 2023. At Packet Pick-Up during the Pre-Race Expo, participants will be given the shirt size they registered for without exception.

6WILL THE RACE BE CANCELED IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

In the event of inclement weather or other circumstances, the Skyway 10K team will make a decision prior to the departure of the first bus regarding the status of the race for high wind, lightning, and inclement weather.

7CAN I TRANSFER MY SKYWAY 10K BIB TO ANOTHER PARTICIPANT?

Yes, we do allow bib transfers. However, please note that bib transfers will only be permitted until February 17, 2024 for an applicable transfer fee.

8ARE WHEELCHAIRS ALLOWED?

The use of wheeled devices by participants or any other person authorized to be on the course is strictly limited to (a) authorized and registered handcycle participants, and (b) authorized course marshals on bicycles.

9WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE DAY OF THE RACE?

Plan to arrive at least one hour before your designated bus wave time.

10WHERE SHOULD I PUT MY CLOTHES BEFORE MY RACE?

Since there will be NO bags allowed on the course, registration to the Skyway 10K includes a bag check. One bag per person may be checked at Tropicana Field on the morning of the race. Please be aware that every bag is subject to inspection before entering Tropicana Field. All participants should consider the time it takes to check a bag and treat it as if it were airport security. If participants miss their bus wave because they were getting their bag checked, they will be considered late and will not be able to ride a later bus due to security guidelines. It is advised to leave belongings at home or in cars, if possible. Participants will not be allowed on the bus if they try to bring a bag.

11WHAT KIND OF WATER BOTTLE CAN I BRING?

Race officials must be able to clearly see through the water bottle, and bottles may not be larger than 24 ounces. No glass is allowed. Water stations are available throughout the race course.

12WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE COURSE?

Animals, backpacks, strollers, anything that is a weapon or could be construed as a weapon, water bottles that race officials cannot see through, glass and glass water bottles, GoPro extensions, and selfie sticks are NOT permitted on the race course.

13WHAT IS ALLOWED ON THE COURSE?

Cell phones and GoPros (along with accompanying chest and head straps) will be permitted on the race course.

14ARE STROLLERS ALLOWED?

Baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, unauthorized bicycles or any other wheeled devices will not be permitted. This race is for participants who are 16 years of age or older.

15WHAT IF I'M LATE TO MY BUS?

Participants must be on time for their designated race departure. Late participants may not ride a later bus due to strict safety guidelines.

16WHAT IF I'M LATE AND MISS MY BUS?

Because of strict time constraints, participants arriving late will not be allowed to race.

17WHERE DOES THE RACE COURSE START AND FINISH?

The Skyway 10K is point-to-point race from Manatee County to Pinellas County running northbound. Racers will be bused to the start line on the bridge from Tropicana Field Parking Lot 1. Once over the bridge, buses will be waiting at the finish line to return racers back to Tropicana Field Parking Lot 1.

18HOW DO I GET TO THE START LINE?

The ONLY way for race participants to reach the start line is to be on their designated bus from Tropicana Field at their designated bus wave loading time. Participants must wear their race bibs to be allowed on the buses and onto the race course. Buses will take participants from Tropicana Field over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge to the start line in Manatee County and will bus them back from the finish line after completion of the 10K course.

19WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO MAKE ANY CHANGES TO MY REGISTRATION, SUCH AS SHIRT SIZE, TRANSFERRING MY BIB TO SOMEONE ELSE, OR CHANGING MY ADDRESS?

20WHERE DO I PICK UP MY RACE PACKET AND BIB NUMBER?

If you did not select the bib mail option, participants MUST pick up their packet during our Pre-Race Expo at Tropicana Field on Saturday of Race Weekend. Every participant is responsible for picking up their own packet.

21CAN MY PACKET BE MAILED TO ME?

During the online registration process, there will be a bib mail option available for an applicable fee. Bibs will be mailed two weeks prior to Race Day. Your participant shirt and swag bag may be retrieved after the run.
